My Medical Choice says:

www.My-Medical-Choice.org is a non-profit private members association that supports members in maintaining absolute medical autonomy when faced with pre-planned medical procedures and emergency situations where they are unable to communicate.

The service incorporates a medical alert system using medical alert tags and jewellery, an online personal account page with members’ essential health data accessible to emergency services, an SMS text alert system to alert emergency contact(s) that a member is in hospital, and a wallet-sized legal directive document (living will) that states which treatments members wish to refuse, such as: blood, invasive tests (for example the PCR test), vaccines, drugs like Midazolam, etc.

Of particular concern to My Medical Choice members is the likelihood of receiving vaccinated blood and/or blood products (plasma, red cells, etc.) in an emergency or during a routine medical procedure.

The Safe Blood system

The Safe Blood system allows members to arrange private, on-call compatible blood donors and to store the relevant details of their donors on their personal account page for contact if needed. Members arrange the donors themselves from friends, family, and from local like-minded groups such as Stand in the Park. For members who are isolated – or are taken to a hospital outside the normal travel distance of their donors (perhaps when working away or on holiday) – we also have the national unvaccinated blood donor database. Members who have received no Flu or Covid vaccinations since the winter of 2018/19 can register to be an on-call donor in a searchable database available to other members. The national blood donor database is also a way to meet like-minded members in your area.

However, it’s important for members to know that the actual need for a blood transfusion is incredibly rare in the day-to-day function of NHS services and medical procedures. In fact, you may be surprised to learn that blood transfusions aren’t needed at all. Ever. Blood transfusions also come with considerable risks and complications – including death! Here are some extremely safe and established procedures available as alternatives to blood transfusions:

• Haemodialysis – as long as non-blood prime is used
• Haemodilution – circulates the patient’s own blood back into their circulatory system
• Heart Bypass – as long as non-human prime is used
• Preoperative Collection – your own blood is stored for subsequent reinfusion
• Expanders – non-blood volume expanders are used such as: saline, dextran, gelatin, Ringer’s Solution, haemaccel, and hetastarch

We believe it’s extremely important that people and medical professionals alike are taught the safer alternatives to blood and blood products as soon as possible. That’s why My Medical Choice is working closely with other organisations to ensure that our Safe Blood service is recognised throughout the entire NHS trust network. We also want a system of collaboration set up between our participating organisations and the NHS, so that our members are routinely offered the same non-blood alternatives as Jehovah’s Witnesses.
